Adams, Minnesota, is a vibrant community of 800 people located on the prairie in Mower County - 5 miles north of the Minnesota-Iowa state line, 15 miles southeast of Austin, 30 miles southwest of Rochester, and 100 miles south of Minneapolis-St. Paul.
The village of Adams was platted on January 30, 1868, by Selah Chamberlain and officially incorporated on March 2, 1887. According to the History of Mower County, published in 1884, William Madden named the town after "a Mr. Adams," an old friend in New York State City Notices
The City of Adams has a vacancy on City Council. Resolution 01-2023 was approved on January 10, 2023 to fill the vacancy. The City of Adams will begin construction on a project in the Adams City Park this fall (2021), going into next spring (2022). This will include a new showering and bathroom facility, the addition of 5 campsites and other improvements which will bring the park into compliance with ADA standards. To fund this project the City of Adams applied for and was awarded a $75,100.00 FY22 Outdoor Recreation Grant through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, which the City of Adams will match dollar for dollar.
